Runners required for probiotic study in Cork...

A local company called Atlantia Food Trials are currently running a probiotic study in partnership with the Mardyke UCC. The study is investigating the effect of strenuous activity on gut permeability. They are looking for endurance athletes, specifically runners to take part.

Please note that the study will last for 8-10 weeks and you will be paid €700 for your time. It involves doing a VO2 Max test on a treadmill so you will obviously have to be injury free.

The specific details are as follows;

·         18 – 50 years
·         Male and Female
·         Regular runner/endurance sport athlete
·         Can run 10km in one hour or less
·         Generally healthy – no medications
·         Non-smoker

Each athlete will attend 5 visits over 8- 10 weeks – these will take place in the Mardyke and at their site in Blackrock in Cork City.

Each athlete will receive;

·         A free V02 max test – completed in the Mardyke
·         A €100 voucher for the sports performance lab in the Mardyke
·         €700 cash

Update 22nd May 2017...This study got a huge response and they now have more than enough volunteers. Now closed.
