Met Eireann issue rainfall alert for Saturday morning

This might be of interest to anyone doing a 5k parkrun on Saturday morning. Met Eireann have issued a Yellow weather alert for Saturday morning (24th Sept 2016).

Rainfall Warning for Galway, Mayo, Cork and Kerry
Over 25 mm likely in a 12 hour period, locally up to 40 mm in mountainous areas. Note that this is an update to the previous warning to include county Mayo in the risk area.
Issued: Friday 23 September 2016 10:00
Valid: Saturday 24 September 2016 00:01 to Saturday 24 September 2016 12:00

As the chart shows, the heavy rain is expected to arrive in West Munster in the small hours of Saturday morning. Over the next few hours, it will progress eastwards with some clearer weather behind it.

For now, it looks likely that the parkrun in Ballincollig will be wet while the rain may well have passed for the ones in West Cork.

For Sunday, it looks reasonable and it should be fine with just a risk of the odd shower.
