Rob Heffernan defends his World Championship title in the early hours of Saturday morning


Back in 2013, Rob Heffernan from Cork won the 50km race walk title in Moscow at the IAAF World Championships. Tomorrow morning Saturday 29th, he begins the defense of his title at 00:30am Irish time.

He will be joined by Irish internationals Brendan Boyce and Alex Wright, both of whom Rob coaches in Cork.

Coverage starts on BBC2 TV at 02:55 Irish time. The winners should be finishing some time after 4am.

The Irish team of Thomas Barr, Mark English, Brian Gregan, Brian Murphy, Timmy Crowe & Richard Morrissey also go in the heats of the mens 4x400m relay at 3:40am
